My Sunday Well Spent
I too took cover at first before coming out to get information from others who saw what really happened. Trust Nigerians, some said the Okada man on the second bike was shot on the leg, others said he was shot on the head. From what I gathered, someone was shot at by another. And the victim was rushed to an unknown hospital for treatment.
I still carried on strolling down and eventually decided to stop by at a friend's Bet9ja shop to charge my phone. Three minutes there, information filtered in. That the Bet9ja shop at Eze Njoku Plaza had been robbed and the robbers escaped on a bike and were being chased.
It then dawned on all that it wasn't safe being around. While everyone hurriedly left the shop I advanced towards the betting shop at the plaza and made further enquiry. The whole incident was told and according to one of the victims of the unfortunate incident, the guys came in and ordered everyone to lie on the ground as they searched everyone's pocket and made away with phones and money they could lay their hands on.
Making my way back to my house on that Sunday evening at about 9:30pm, I noticed that the popular Seaside Road was as quiet as a cemetery; no stall was open and since there was no light throughout Saturday and was never expected until Monday, the whole street was in absolute darkness. Just as I approached my humble abode I saw two people discussing. I greeted them and asked to know if there was anything I missed while I was away. Then one explained that some boys numbering up to forty paraded the street with machetes bullying and harassing everyone along the road. Every shop owner had to lock their shop immediately for safety purposes
