Come Sunday 23th April, 2017 at the Agege Township stadium, Mountain of Fire and Miracle Football club takes on the pride of the south south region so far this season - Akwa United Football Club of Akwa Abasi Ibom State. MFM FC are second on the league stand after their two nil away loss to Akwa United on match day 19, thy will definitely want to take a pound of flesh against Akwa United at home.
Both sides have met three times, Akwa winning twice at home;2-0,3-1 and lost 3-0 in their only visit to Agege.
Akwa United have been solid at home, winning seven times and drawing three against FC Ifeanyi Ubah (1-1), Enugu Rangers(0-0) and Rivers United(1-1) but have been poor travellers winning only at the Sani Abacha Stadium(0-1) away to Kano Pillars and drawing two at Gombe United(0-0) and Katsina United(1-1), losing to Lobi Stars, Niger Tornados, Nasarawa united, Enyimba, Wikki Tourist and Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC(3-1) on the opening day which happened to be their biggest defeat in the league so far. They have kept six clean sheets, four at home and two away.
The Promises Keepers are fifth on the log with 29 points after 19 games; amassing 24 points at home out of the 30 and 5 points away out of the possible 27. They have failed to score six times; once at home against Enugu Rangers and five on the road against Niger Tornadoes, Nasarawa united, Gombe United, Enyimba and our coach return to his former team Wikki Tourist.
Akwa United are very solid defensively; conceding 17 the joint sixth, only surpassed by Rivers United with less games(10), Plateau United (11), Enugu Rangers and Nasarawa (14) and Kano Pillars(16). A loss for Akwa and a win for any of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Enyimba and Abia Warriors spells doom for Akwa, as they may slip to eighth position also depending on the goals conceded. A draw is not good enough to keep them in fifth till the next match day.
In case you don't know or have probably forgotten, Abdu Maikaba lead Wikki Tourist of Bauchi to a third place finish last season and is poised to surpass his achievement with a better club in Akwa United.
Akwa United are redhot inform winning three and drawing one of their last five matches. It's not been all rossy for The Promise Keepers as they have been red carded twice away from home against Niger Tornadoes and Nasarawa United.
The Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC versus Akwa United no matter who is home have always produced two or more goals.
Stephen Odeh of MFM goes into the game as the highest scorer in the league with fourteen goals against Alhassan Ibrahim of Akwa United with Nine.
It promises to be entertaining and its definitely my Match of the as second place MFM host fifth place Akwa and my pick is Akwa with a surprise away win because football is Made In Uyo.
